Les Bords du Lac : Décor by Dorothée Delaye

With Les Bords du Lac, Iconic House reveals its vision of the Ocean House - a sort of dream pied à terre, just a stone's throw from the most beautiful rollers of the Atlantic - alongside Dorothée Delaye, who has created an ambitious new project, marked by strong design choices in terms of materials and colours.

Interior designer Dorothée Delaye has been designing living spaces for nearly 15 years, finding inspiration in her two offices in Paris and Marseille. She first set up her own design studio, before moving on to furniture curation and design a few years later. Her designs are timeless and upmarket, combining elegance, boldness and refinement.

After more than 6 months of complete refurbishment of the interiors and completely redesigned spaces, Les Bords du Lac is surprising, astonishing and unusual. And imposes its own distinctive style. The decor boldly borrows some of the clichés of a much-loved California. At Bords du Lac, you enter the intimacy of a surfer aesthete who doesn't like to do things the other way around, much like its owners, who are very involved in the renovation of each of the houses in their Collection.

BESPOKE (MASTER) PIECES

For the project, Dorothée Delaye and her teams will be working with craftsmen to create a host of bespoke pieces, including armchairs, bedside tables and mirrors designed in solid wood with a local cabinetmaker, a huge 'Surf' dining table (one of the Villa's masterpieces) and a unique coffee table with bronze legs and pink blown glass inserts.

We also had a lot of fun bringing together fabric designers such as Pierre Frey and Gaston y Daniela with more retro furniture. The spirit of the 70s will be evoked in dashes, without ever becoming an excessive obsession " adds Dorothée Delaye.

The designer drew her inspiration from California and her memories of summers spent as a child in the South West of France to create a sunny, warm and ambitious interior. There was no question of duplicating the decor in every room. Going against the grain of certain (unfortunate) hotel habits, each area of the Villa develops its own singular universe with its own strong choices of materials, colours, textures and effects of volume and form.
