Les Hauts de Gordes: Décor by Jérémie Du Chaffaut

The fourth property of the Iconic House Collection is a sincere ode to the region. The décor has been designed with the help of interior architect Jérémie du Chaffaut, a native of Provence, in a passionate and down-to-earth approach. A declaration of love to the region's heritage, reinterpreted with a contemporary twist.

A PROVENÇAL PARADISE

Drawing on its unrivalled location, unique decor and exceptional facilities, the founders are making the promise of a dream bastide, a kind of fantasy of the Provençal bastide. A magical, almost utopian cocoon, with an emphasis on second-hand furniture, giving it charm and authenticity. A dream of enchanted, sunny interludes. The adjoining lavender field, oak and olive trees, the light, the beautiful materials, the colours, the calm... and the view, set the scene. In the spirit of a postcard, blurring the boundaries between dream and reality.

Les Hauts de Gordes embodies the quintessence of Provence, in its purest vision. The choice of materials and colours, the work with craftsmen, the use of local know-how... the project offers a unique interpretation of the Provençal art of living. A real place to live.” says Thibaud Elzière.

JEREMIE DU CHAFFAUT AND HIS OBSESSION WITH PROVENÇAL CRAFTSMANSHIP

An interior architect who has designed numerous boutiques and international flagships for major luxury brands, Jérémie du Chaffaut never forgets his native Provence. He comes from a long line of Haute-Provence ancestors, and his eyes were sharpened by his parents, who were antique dealers in their spare time: To beauty, to cultivate. With a deep-seated desire to bring exceptional craftsmanship to life in a contemporary way, and to sublimate Provençal traditions, he founded Midi, a furniture and object publishing house, in 2019. "It's not about producing one more piece of furniture, one object too many, but about reconnecting with craftsmanship, safeguarding and passing on know-how" It's this approach that will appeal to Thibaud Elzière and Robin Michel.

A DREAM PROVENÇAL BASTIDE

Like all the other properties in the Iconic House Collection, Les Hauts de Gordes is available to rent in its entirety, with seven bedrooms hidden away in three buildings. These include a family suite, with a children's dormitory, located right next to Kids Paradise, a playground sheltered under oak trees housing a Provençal borie, a trampoline, a table tennis table and slacklines.

"Each room is unique, bright, warm and designed to make you feel at home," says Robin Michel.

The kitchen, which opens onto the dining room, features a host of colourful glazed tiles designed by Jérémie du Chaffaut, and exudes a typically southern conviviality. The Épicerie, an Iconic House signature that revisits the hotel minibar in an XXL version, houses a bar area. The main house has two lounges. One, nestled under the glass roof and open to nature. The other, with its library and fireplace, is set in an impressive concrete tree designed by Julien Beaucourt.

Outside, the immense swimming pool spreads over two levels and opens onto Gordes and the Luberon massif. Nearby, the outdoor kitchen features a wall of boxwood curtains, handcrafted by the last remaining Provencal workshop. The wall's pattern echoes the work of artists in the Op Art movement. It's the perfect place for aperitifs and festive evenings. A little further up, a pétanque court blends into a Provençal garden laid out in terraces. And as a surprise at nightfall, an outdoor cinema is available on request. It's one of a kind!

Below the estate, around a bend in the path where the scent of wild thyme intoxicates, a place invites you to relax: an original dry-stone borie, converted into a space for rest and meditation, with candles and sound bowls. The wellness area with fully-equipped gym and steam room will leave a lasting impression on guests.
